TANAKA is entered through distinct paths.
Each frame is made start to finish by one artisan. What changes is not the integrity of the object, but the degree of fixity, rarity, and relation between wearer and frame.
Black Archive
Black Archive is TANAKA’s permanent line.
It is offered in two considered formats, 01 and 02, and made individually to order. Unlike Patina Edition, it is not structured through numbered allocation, but remains continuously available within the house.
It presents the authored silhouette in a more fixed form: precise, repeatable, and held to the same standards of proportion, finish, and structural integrity as every TANAKA frame.
For those unsure which format is right, guidance is available before order. This may be based on measurements from a current frame, fit notes, or reference photographs where helpful.
Patina Edition
Patina Edition is TANAKA’s numbered made-to-measure line.
Each design is limited to 150 pieces, with every frame individually numbered. Orders begin with an allocation enquiry and fitting discussion before production is confirmed.
Patina Edition is the more private expression of the house. It brings together numbered structure, individual fit, and a material surface that gains greater depth and singularity through time and use.a current frame, fit notes, or reference photographs where helpful.
Bespoke
Bespoke is TANAKA’s most individual level of work.
It is reserved for cases where fixed format or made-to-measure are no longer sufficient, and a deeper degree of adjustment is required. This may involve more substantial changes to proportion, fit, dimension, or construction, and is handled only through direct discussion.
It brings the frame into a more exact relation with one wearer or one specific request, under the same standards of proportion, finish, and structural integrity that define the house.
Bespoke is not a broader customisation offer, but a narrower and more deliberate part of TANAKA.
Studio Viewing
Studio viewings are by appointment.
When writing, it is helpful to indicate the model, the line, and any fit reference already available.
All enquiries are received directly by Gow Tanaka and handled personally by the atelier.
