Terms & Conditions

1. About

TANAKA Eyewear builds frames in small numbers. Each piece is made to order by a single maker using a compressed paper composite, stainless-steel hinges, and polyamide lenses.

2. Orders & Acceptance

Orders are accepted at our discretion. We will confirm your order by email and provide an estimated production window.

3. Made-to-Order

All frames are made to order. Lead time varies with process and queue. The average is 20 days from order confirmation. This is an estimate, not a guarantee.

4. Made-to-Measure (no-charge option)

On request we will adjust the nose-pad angle slightly for fit, at no charge. Selecting this option makes the order personal to you; returns or cancellations are not accepted except where required by law.

5. Bespoke (chargeable)

Changes beyond nose-pad angle—such as frame size, bridge distance, or temple length—are treated as bespoke. Bespoke orders are final and non-returnable, subject to your statutory rights.

6. Delivery & Risk

We ship globally from the UK. Shipping times depend on destination and carrier. Title and risk pass on delivery to the address provided or on collection where arranged.

7. Taxes & Duties

Prices exclude local taxes and import duties unless stated. Customers are responsible for any charges applied by customs or carriers in their country.

8. Warranty — Five Years

We cover manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship, including mechanical components (hinges), for five (5) years from the date of purchase. Scratches to lenses, accidental damage, loss, and misuse are not covered.
To start a claim, contact us with your order details and serial number. We will advise the return method and next steps. Keep original packaging for safe transit.

9. Repairs Outside Warranty

We offer repair and refurbishment at cost after the warranty period. We will quote before work begins. Shipping both ways is the customer’s responsibility unless we state otherwise.

10. Returns, Cancellations & Cooling-off

  • Bespoke / Made-to-Measure: Not eligible for return or cancellation except where required by law.

  • Standard made-to-order (no personalisation): UK/EU customers may have a statutory cooling-off right. If applicable, notify us within 14 days of delivery and return the item unused, with all packaging. We will confirm eligibility and process according to local law.

  • Faults on arrival: Notify us within 14 days with photos and a description. We will repair, replace, or refund as appropriate.
These terms do not affect your statutory rights.

11. Care & Use

The composite is non-porous and stable in normal use. Frames are hand-shaped and designed to age; patina and sheen will develop with handling and light.
Care: clean with the provided microfiber cloth; for deeper cleaning use mild soapy water and dry fully. Tighten hinge screws only if confident, otherwise contact the studio. Store in the case. Wear and remove with both hands.

12. Certifications & Compliance

We comply with applicable safety and consumer regulations in markets where we operate. Documentation is available on request.

13. Ownership, Authenticity & Resale

Each frame is recorded by maker and serial number. Products are sold for personal use. Commercial resale without our written consent is not permitted.

14. Limitation of Liability

We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability is limited to the price paid for the product to which a claim relates, unless otherwise required by law.

15. Force Majeure

We are not responsible for delays caused by events beyond our reasonable control.

16. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory local consumer protections.
